Islandora began as a small project at the University of Prince Edward Island and has quickly become an internationally respected digital repository platform over the course of a very few years.
We have held a major presence at The Annual International Conference on Open Repositories (or "O.R." as it is more commonly called) from our very early days. Over the years, we have moved from being an upstart, to being a startup, to being an established and stable enterprise-ready platform.
We are thrilled this year to see not only how much Islandora is explicitly involved in a number of Open Repositories presentations, but also in all those presentations where we are not actively involved but are an essential part of the presenter’s stack. The community has embraced Islandora to the extent that we’re seamlessly embedded in the background, allowing users to forget about the technology and focus on their work.
A huge thanks goes out to the Islandora community - The users, developers, early adopters, late adopters, participants in the weekly committers calls, participants in the user groups & IRC channel, and everyone else who has helped make Islandora what it is today.
We look forward to seeing our colleagues at Open Repositories 2015 in Indiana this June.
