Islandora Webinar: ‘UMKC Digital Special Collections’

In our second webinar of 2016, discoverygarden is pleased to present an interactive discussion with Sandy Rodriguez from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) on the recent launch of the Islandora Repository, UMKC Digital Special Collections.

In January 2014, the University of Missouri made the decision to move to an open source repository platform by installing Islandora and making it available to three campuses.  Since then, staff have migrated almost 10,000 objects from their most used collections - focused primarily on Kansas City history, politics and jazz.  With the help of discoverygarden, UMKC designed and built a theme for the repository that is focused on discovery.

In the webinar, Sandy will discuss an overview of the project, why UMKC chose Islandora and how they overcame challenges during the project.  In addition, Sandy will discuss plans going forward for scaling and sustaining the repository.

We look forward to this informative discussion and we hope to see you there!

Best Regards,

~ the discoverygarden team
