Critical to success is know where and how to begin the process. After working with more than a hundred organizations and thousands of use cases, we can provide guidance on this first leg of your digital repository journey.

Discoverygarden Webinar: Building workflows with the Drupal Rules Module

Building on the success of our Islandora Form Builder webinar, this month we are pleased to present a discussion on how to build digital curation workflows using the Drupal Rules Module.

The Drupal Rules Module provides support for an Islandora installation to react to actions taken by users or processes. It also allows administrators to define actions based on occurring events. In effect, it is designed to help build flexible digital curation processes.

Once again, the discussion will be led by discoverygarden developer Dan Aiken. After the presentation, Dan will be available to answer any questions you may have regarding the Drupal Rules Module.

We hope that you can join us on Wednesday, September 28 at 12pm EDT for another exciting webinar brought to you by discoverygarden.

Boston College

Project

Boston College

Duration

March 2014 to Present

Objective

To migrate data from their existing DigiTool repository into Islandora to empower staff to further populate, curate and maintain the repository.

Strategy

Boston College started with our “Jumpstart” installation bundle which enabled the team at Boston College University Libraries to test the software, define how to modify the theme, receive training and clarify the customizations that would bring their repository to life. Next, the college undertook a detailed assessment project to outline the approach for migrating data from their DigiTool repository, map existing handles and create new ones, as well as modify the Islandora Video Solution Pack for streaming video.

Result

Boston College launched their new Islandora institutional repository, eScholarship@BC, in February 2015 to showcase and preserve Boston College's scholarly output in digital form and to make it freely accessible globally.
